Client Information System (CIS)

Some time ago, we developed an in-house Client Information System (CIS) database. This system records client details, assets, and any end-user issues that are queried with the office. As our business grows, and we employ more technical staff, it becomes increasingly important to detail any critical information that relates to individual clients so that all technical staff are aware of the bespoke products and settings that each client has.

We would therefore ask that any user or system issues are emailed to info@1010systems.co.uk or phoned through to the main office telephone number of 01244 408990.

This issue will be logged into CIS and an engineer notified and allocated to respond. If an email is sent direct to someone’s personal email account, this may result in a delay in dealing with your issue.

Regulations affecting websites and e-stationery

Companies in the UK must include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email footers or they will breach the Companies Act and risk a fine.

Every company should list its company registration number, place of registration, registered office address and VAT number (if applicable) on its website, as a result of an update to the legislation of 1985. The information, which must be in legible characters, should also appear on order forms and in emails. Such information is already required on "business letters" but the duty is being extended to websites, order forms and electronic documents".

If you need help in getting your electronic communications up to date, please contact me.

Microsoft Vista and Office 2007

There has been a lot of hype over the past year following the launch of Microsoft’s operating system Vista and the Office Suite 2007. What many people don’t appreciate, initially, is that the recommended minimum system requirements for Vista include:

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
    • WDDM Driver
    • 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
    • Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
    • 32 bits per pixel
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • Audio Output
  • Internet access (fees may apply)

In order to future-proof our clients, any new machines that are purchased after 1st July will be supplied with a DVD-ROM and 2Gb RAM as standard to meet Microsoft’s recommended specification.

Electronic Invoicing

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, with effect from 1st July 2008 we will be issuing all invoices, quotations and statements electronically.

We will be contacting each of our clients over the next week or so to confirm the correct email address that should be used for accounting purposes.

If you have any concerns on how this will impact your business, please do not hesitate to contact me.
