As we approach our 10th Anniversary, we are delighted to
announce that we have achieved our Gold

has been gained through providing client-approved solutions
to networking and security issues, staff training and examination
and achieving pre-set sales targets. This is the highest benchmark

After much anticipation, Microsoft has released
details of the various editions of its next generation operating
system Windows 7 which will replace Windows Vista. As yet,
there has not been any announcement of the actual launch date,
however this is likely to be due late 2009/early 2010.
Microsoft has now made Windows 7 Beta available
for evaluation and testing to IT professionals and we will
be evaluating the product over the next couple of months and
responding. However the opportunity to download this has now
passed.
From an IT professional perspective, the major
focus of Windows 7 has been to improve overall PC manageability,
security and IT productivity - especially given the more mobile
and distributed work environments that many of our clients
now have.
Windows 7 will also come built with Internet Explorer
8 the latest version of Microsoft's web browser application.
This has adopted reliability and added some extra features
to improve the internet experience.

A new worm called Downadup, sometimes called Conficker has generated
a great deal of interest. Many experts estimate that millions
of computers have been infected with this threat since January.
Current users of Symantec’s Norton security products are protected.
How does the worm infect a computer?
The Downadup worm tries to take advantage of a problem with
Windows (a vulnerability) called MS08-067 to quietly install
itself. Users who automatically receive updates or have manually
installed the latestest updates from Microsoft are already
protected from this. The worm also tries to spread by copying
itself into shared folders on networks and by infecting USB
devices such as memory sticks.
If you believe you may have a virus of any sort and are on
a network, we would advise you to leave the machine switched
off and contact us to discuss how to rectify the problem.
Visit the Symantec website for a list of latest virus threats.
