Globecast, a global provider of media solutions, is teaming up with Crown Media Family Networks in a bid to provide a disaster recovery system to its networks, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Channel.
The Los Angeles-based media company reaches over 150 million US households through its family-orientated networks. Globecast Americas has said that the disaster recovery system protects the channels, as well as demonstrating its frontline capabilities.
As part of its disaster recovery plan, the media giant will provide ongoing channel origination services. This is all while employing an associated storage and server-based playout system, controlled with automation technology. The service also includes content tracking and aggregation, distribution, and playout, which employs real-time monitoring. The plan further features transmission and encoding for both of its channels, should a failure occur.
Eddie Ferraro, MD of Globecast Americas, said:
“In today’s competitive viewing landscape, automated channel redundancy is a crucial factor for broadcasters because being off-air for even a few seconds is catastrophic. Crown Media can go to air with a greater sense of confidence. Knowing that a proper back-up plan is in place.”
