Microsoft is about to launch its latest software as a service (SaaS), Microsoft IoT Central, which is designed to simplify the Internet of Things for consumers.

The Launch of the New SaaS

The launch aligns with Azure IoT, the tech giant’s existing platform as a service (PaaS). With its customisation features and implementations for control, IoT Central could potentially speed up the process of manufacturers bringing new products into the marketplace. This would create new revenue streams and therefore improved experiences for consumers. The next step is for IoT Central to remove restrictions in order to enable further developments in IoT solutions.

Microsoft Azure partner director Sam George’s recent blog discusses how cloud, mobile and web technologies have enhanced digital evolution. He suggests that the new instigator to consider is the Internet of Things.

He added:

“Yet while IoT brings a new set of benefits for companies that want to keep an edge on their competition, it brings challenges, too… IoT solutions can still be complex. Also a shortage of skills makes it difficult for everyone to take advantage of this new innovation.”

In addition, Microsoft announced a launch new product: Connected Factory. A welcomed pre-configured service in the Azure IoT suite. The design provides an easier on-ramp for industrial companies to enhance their factory floor performance.
